THE GOAL
We want everyone to have good info on mental health, especially with all the stigmatizing stuff that's out there these days. No matter what diagnosis you have, we want you to feel unalone and understood (or at least cared about). We do not want you to feel looked down upon or judged or demonized.
And if you are a parent or friend, partner or caretaker -- or treater -- we want you to be well-informed and equipped to manage your relationship with the affected person in a positive way. Although it's often difficult, we believe that people with personality disorders can have constructive relationships.
We work with experts in the field and people with diagnoses to try to understand personality disorders -- mainly BPD and NPD -- and other related issues on a personal and societal level.
THE ORIGIN
It all started when Rebbie was diagnosed with BPD and wanted to find out about what the heck it was. So of course she decided to make a documentary film about it. BORDERLINE came out in 2016.
There was a ton of interview footage with prominent experts on BPD -- Marsha Linehan, Otto Kernberg, John Gunderson and Peter Fonagy -- that didn't make it into the film, and so we made a lot of small videos out of the material and started the channel.
A few years down the road, we interviewed more experts and people with diagnoses, shot some actual therapeutic sessions and here we are, a channel with over 150k subs and over 20 million views!
THE CREW
The channel has been created and operated by two people with an insatiable interest in psychology and personality challenges and how to "get better," one with an official PD diagnosis and one without (but with plenty of issues). They both come from an arts + film background and this informs the production (and the presentation) of material. They first worked together on Rebbie's film BORDERLINE, an experiential documentary about Regina, a woman with Borderline Personality Disorder.
